I have seen the movie more than a dozen times, I thought it would be worth to hold it in my hand and keep it around me. But there was more than just the happiness of holding my favorite movie script in my hand. I loved the 'Jerry Maquire Journal' which is the very first chapter of the book. Cameron Crowe wrote how he came out with the idea of writing a script on the subject, how the 1960 movie 'the apartment' influenced him, how the casting started. It was just fascinating to read how my favorite movie was made. I admired Tom Cruise's performance in the movie but after reading the journal I admire him even more for his passion about this movie, it wouldn't have been the same without his drive. The script was also fun to read because the script is the original version and could find which scenes Cameron decided to change, delete or add since I have seen the movie several times. It was like doing a fun puzzle to me. I was expecting a more grandiose, head hammering, beautifully written mission statement at the end of the book but it was more like a really middle of the night, on the spot, spontaneously written mission statement. Still enjoyable. All in all, it was great read. I wished they had the kindle version but still great!!!

Excellent script.
I am currently doing a course that requires me to read scripts and to make the exercise more enjoyable, have chosen to read scripts of movies I love and by people I admire - namely Mr Cameron Crowe. As well as being the script from the movie there are two added bonuses to this edition - included is Jerry Maguire's Mission Statement (which started the whole ball rolling for the film) and also a commentary by Cameron Crowe at the start of the book giving details of how the idea for the film came about; his research and how long it took to write the script; casting (the insights into the casting are very interesting); and his failed attempts to get Billy Wilder to play Dicky Fox, Jerry Maguire's mentor.
Reading scripts to movies always gives a deeper insight to the characters and the plot of the story and this is no exception. It is also helped by Cameron Crowe's notes at the start and his description of how Tom Cruise approached the part of Jerry Maguire.
If you are a film buff and enjoy this movie you will enjoy the script.
